Early diagnosis and treatment of eye disease and vision problems are important to maintain eye health and great vision. A comprehensive adult eye and vision examination will include tests specific to the needs of each patient. Testing may include: patient history, visual acuity, refraction, tonometry, binocular vision testing, eye health evaluation and supplemental testing when more in depth assessment is indicated.

Regular examination of eye health and contact lens fit are essential for long term successful wear of contact lenses. In addition to vision exam and eye health assessment, contact lens examination includes assessment of the corneal shape and surface, quantity and quality of tear production, health of the eyelids and conjunctiva and selection of contact lens parameters that best meet individual patient needs and goals. Ozarks Family Vision Centre offers specialty contact lens services for ocular disease, post refractive surgery corneal problems to name a few.

Any patient with diabetes should have a comprehensive eye examination annually. The eyes are usually dilated for the exam as diabetes can greatly affect many parts of the eye causing cataracts, double vision, glaucoma, permanent vision loss and blindness. Diabetic retinopathy, a common complication of diabetes, causes small blood vessels inside the eye to leak. If left undetected and untreated severe vision loss or blindness can occur. The doctors at Ozarks Family Vision Centre will commonly use cutting edge imaging called Angiovue Optical Coherence tomography and retinal photography to detect and track diabetic retinopathy.

Dry Eye Syndrome is a complex condition that can occur at any age and often is a lifelong problem. Doctors at Ozarks Family Vision Centre use a wide variety of new and time tested techniques to accurately diagnose dry eye. Dry eye treatment is often a dual effort to control symptoms and restore a healthy tear film. Dry eye treatment plans are unique to each patient and often employ the use of topical medications, oral medications, ocular lubricants, punctal plugs and artificial tears.

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause progressive damage to the optic nerve resulting in loss of vision. Glaucoma remains one of the leading causes of blindness in the US today. Most forms of glaucoma progress slowly and usually without symptoms. Glaucoma can now be detected and controlled at an early stage to slow vision loss. The doctors at Ozarks Family Vision Centre use highly specialized instrumentation to properly diagnose, monitor and treat glaucoma.

Macular degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss in Americans over the age of 60. Central vision becomes distorted or blanked out. Early detection and ongoing monitoring and treatment of macular degeneration are essential to minimize vision loss. The doctors at Ozarks Family Vision Centre utilize cutting edge Angiovue Optical Coherence Tomography as well as other specialized imaging tests to accurately detect, monitor and treat this very serious condition.

All doctors at Ozarks Family Vision Centre are trained, licensed and experienced in diagnosis and treatment of acute injury of the eyes, foreign body removal, and eye or eyelid infection.

Unexplained flashes of light in the visual field may mean something is wrong in the back of the eye. Additionally, sudden onset of new floaters or changes in existing floaters should be evaluated as possible signs of retinal detachment, holes or tears. Ozarks Family Vision Centre staff are trained to help assist and expedite examination and treatment for patients with these symptoms.
